History 

To cultivate tourism and culinary talents in Hualien and Taitung, and to provide Taitung's culinary and bed-and-breakfast operators, as well as students and teachers from related fields, with the opportunity to engage in culinary exchanges with international chefs, the "Taitung Kitchen - Fusion Course" camp is organized. This event focuses on using local ingredients to connect with the culture.

Goals 

  • Focusing on traditional and innovative cuisine and beverages from Hawaii and Southern California, participants will learn about the food cultures of these regions.
  • Through exchanges between Hawaii and Taitung, participants will understand how to use local ingredients to create innovative dishes.
  • Combining online learning with hands-on practice, the program explores methods of remote culinary teaching.

Huatung Culinary Workshop 2019

The 2019 year marks Huatung Culinary Workshop's second consecutive year running. Two workshops took place sequentially between the 10th and 16th of August. The first three-day workshop, which took place at National Taitung College, invited culinary professionals, teachers, and students from the Huatung, Pingtung, and Tainan areas to participate.
