Experimental Education
Only by starting from the roots of education can we bring about structural changes for the sustainable development of Hualien and Taitung.
The ever-widening wealth gap has exacerbated the challenges faced by disadvantaged children, making it increasingly difficult for them to overcome their circumstances. In an era where educational competition transcends national borders, privileged children have many opportunities and pathways for their future. However, for those growing up in remote regions with limited access, navigating the existing educational system can be challenging. Chairman Stanley Yan firmly believes that educational reform is the key to their success. By introducing dynamic, multifaceted, and self-directed learning methods, we can empower these children to uncover their potential and make a tangible impact on society.
Our deep appreciation for the significance of education stems from the Alliance Cultural Foundation's (ACF) pioneering role. During the initial phase from 2010 to 2014, our primary mission was to revitalize local industries, particularly in the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot. During those years, we achieved a milestone by establishing direct flights from Hong Kong to Hualien, attracting professionals, media attention, and travelers. However, we also recognized the challenges posed by rapid development in Hualien.
In 2015, to establish a consistent educational framework for junior high graduates, the Junyi School of Innovation established its high school division and encouraged students to study abroad. In 2018, the “Junyi Innovative Study Abroad Program” was launched to motivate high school students to opt for community colleges or United World Colleges (UWC) in the United States. This aims to enhance language skills, technical knowledge, independence, and global perspectives, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of indigenous communities.
Dormitory life is essential in remote areas like Hualien and Taitung. Junyi prioritizes students' well-being, helping them establish healthy routines and develop independent learning skills. In 2019, Junyi was recognized as an "International Experimental School" by the Ministry of Education.
