History

Since 2011, The Alliance Cultural Foundation has been collecting 4,000 secondhanded cameras from the public and giving them to rural elementary schools in the Hualien and Taitung Counties. The "Through the Lens of Children - Campus Photography Cultivation Project" was launched through volunteer teachers' instruction. The following year, the Industrial Bank of Taiwan donated 140 new cameras. The Alliance Cultural Foundation selected seven middle and elementary schools in Hualien and Taitung that are willing to commit to long-term photography courses to promote photography on campus.

Mission

In 2014, the "Through the Lens of Children - Campus Photography Cultivation Project" set "Teacher Training," "Experience Sharing," and "Sustainable Growth" as their midterm and long-term goals. This initiative aimed not only to increase the involvement of volunteer teachers and college volunteers in accompanying children in their learning journey but also to enable school teachers to integrate cameras as teaching tools within educational activities, allowing children to discover the beauty of their surroundings through the camera.

Teacher Training involves designing photography curricula and conducting workshops (covering photography, child education, and aesthetics) to enhance students' knowledge of photography.

Experience Sharing: Through sharing experiences from the courses (short-term and in-depth courses), it aims to rally corporates from the north, central, and south regions of Taiwan to sponsor rural photography education.

Sustainable Growth: Supporting schools in planning their curricula and teaching so that photography courses can be deeply rooted in rural areas, becoming a part of school club activities or a distinctive feature for sustainable development.
