History
In recent years, Taitung County has promoted its tourism industry, particularly the bed and breakfast sector. In 2013, Yu-Jen Senior High School Taitung partnered with the Alliance Cultural Foundation, which connected them with the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism to create specialized courses. These courses aim to train professionals in bed and breakfast operation and management.
Goals
The course focuses on "situational teaching," offering students internships at local bed and breakfasts in Taitung. By learning from experienced local owners, students gain practical skills, ensuring they can seamlessly transition into the workforce upon graduation. This approach enriches the course content and defines the school's unique teaching style.
About the Course
- First semester: Bed and breakfast breakfast design (3 sessions), Taitung local tour guide practice (3 sessions), bed and breakfast housekeeper training trip (1 session).
- Second semester: Bed and breakfast refreshments (3 sessions), practical operations for bed and breakfast housekeepers (3 sessions), bed and breakfast housekeeper training trip (1 session).
In addition, to integrate English into daily life, year-round life English classes will be arranged. The beneficiaries of these classes are students from the first to the third year of the Tourism Department, with the aim of providing students with effective learning outcomes.
