Since 2013, Ms. Wei-Ying Lan, previously a Director of Academic Affairs at Lishan High School has focused on instructional design, raising questions, and classroom management. She has led cross-school collaborative preparation communities to foster professional growth among teachers and transform classroom culture. In 2015, she initiated the Taitung Collaborative Preparation Workshop at Junyi School, continuously hosting it with educational partners and transitioning it under the Junyi Teacher Training Center in 2018. In 2019, the Education Support for Taiwan was established, continuing these efforts and supporting over 200 schools and communities. Recognizing the needs of uncertified teachers, the association, with support from the Alliance Cultural Foundation, launched programs to aid these teachers in remote areas, enhancing their teaching skills and classroom management through regular accompaniment and collaborative learning initiatives.
Collaborative Learning Program for Uncertified Teachers (2021~)
Goals
By providing uncertified teachers with stable resources for curriculum teaching and classroom management, the program aims to enhance their professional skills and confidence. This, in turn, helps mitigate issues such as the high turnover rate of teachers and the resulting vicious cycle of declining student academic performance.
Participants
1. Collaborative Learning Group Mentors: Experienced teachers who, after participating in the Education Support for Taiwan’s training programs, assist uncertified substitute teachers. Each cohort recruits 15 mentors.
2. Uncertified Substitute Teachers: Uncertified substitute teachers from across the country who wish to improve their teaching skills. Each cohort recruits 60 participants.
