Why Host an Art Camp?

Chairman Stanley Yen recognizes the strengths of children in Hualien and Taitung while agreeing with Taiwan's lack of aesthetic education due to a focus on academics. He believes art should be a part of everyday life, not just for a select few. The art camp's goal is to "discover talents and build confidence," igniting a passion for art among local children.

In 2010, the first art camp invited a lineup of "dream instructors" to share their experiences. To share the camp's spirit with Taitung residents, instructors You Si-Fu, Ho Hung-Chi, and Chang Cheng-Chieh held the "Masters Enjoying Art World" lectures at Taitung Eslite Bookstore. ANZ Bank later exhibited the students' works in Taipei and Taichung.

The second art camp in 2011 was planned with help from Taipei National University of the Arts students and volunteers from Taitung University and National Chengchi University.

In 2012, the camp partnered with Shih Chien University's Department of Media and Communication Design to hold the "Shih Chien Animation Design Camp" in Taipei, giving local youth a chance to experience animation and new media creation. In 2016, the "Industrial Design Camp" was added in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Design. Both camps continued until 2017.

In 2020, the Alliance Cultural Foundation and  Gosh Creative Arts Foundation cohosted the camp in Taitung, providing new opportunities for local youth.
